By his 13th birthday, Trucks had played alongside Buddy Guy and toured with Thunderhawk. Trucks began playing the guitar using a slide because it allowed him to play the guitar despite his small hands as a young guitarist. Trucks bought his first guitar at a yard sale for $5 at age nine and became a child prodigy, playing his first paid performance at age 11. According to Trucks, the name of Eric Clapton's band, Derek and the Dominos, had "something to do with the name if not the spelling". Trucks was born in Jacksonville, Florida. They have a host who typically interviews a person about a topic or two of interest to an audience. It is a privilege to be a part of a family with such a great granddad who truly believed in being a kind person of good character. Strangers would tell me about his kindness. After my granddad passed away, I heard about all the good things he did for people. However, this one seemed to have a lasting effect because we were the only audience for the movie at my house that day. We had a few more adventures that left an impact on my life. In 2020, I still think about the great man who was my granddad and the few adventures we had together. In 2005, I did not understand the depth of the moment. When our grandparents spend time with us, we view it as an honor. I am Fijian and, in my culture, our grandparents are cherished and respected immensely. At his funeral, I sat in the pews of the church remembering the day he decided to accept my invitation to see this movie. It was a moment I still think about to this day. Try to explore why this memory is so important to you.įor example, when I was a child, my granddad and I saw the movie ‘Because of Winn-Dixie’ all the way back in 2005. Write about a day in your childhood that was meaningful to you. This writing prompt has three requirements:ġ. For this writing prompt, write about a day in your childhood that meant the world to you. These are stories that helped us grow as people. It must be a story that left a mark on you, whatever that means. It could be anything that was meaningful to you. It could be about a time you spent a day with your friends at the park. These stories could be about the time you visited your grandparents and saw a movie with them. In my opinion, the best kind of stories we have are stories from our childhood. We tell ourselves stories so we can unpack and process what we have been through. Writer Joan Didion wrote, “We tell ourselves stories in order to live.” More specifically, we tell ourselves stories to make sense of things. Every day, you are telling yourself a story from the moment you wake up until you fall asleep. We listen to stories, so we can connect with others. They will tell stories of tragedies and triumphs. Then Chloe appears (the cold woman from weeks ago). Lucy opens up to Nick, introducing him to her mom Cheryl, who is in a home due to dementia. She tells Nick, who informs her that now he has a mystery backer providing the finance to complete the venue. He tells her Amelia dumped him, and she concludes that they were not meant to be together, as she’s the hero in his love story, and he’s the villain in hers. She asks Nadine for help in breaking up with him. Seemingly about to take it, as she and Max leave together, she has an epiphany. At lunch with Max, he suggests Eva Woolf, who surprisingly offers gallery space. She and Max stay out, talking, and she agrees to a lunch.Īs Nick’s loan falls through, he tells her to rehome her exhibit, so Lucy approaches every gallery she knows. Max is telling her he wants her back when Nick shows up with birthday cake and the men butt heads. After railing on him in Lucy’s defense, Amanda and Nadine head up. Marco (like her roommates) suggests Nick ask her out.Īrriving home at 3 am, they find Max out front. They sing a ‘Don’t Go Breaking My Heart’ duet. Lucy shows Nick New York Magazine mentioning their project, and she tells him about her idea for a ball opening. Shortly thereafter, the three roommates invite Nick, Marco and his wife to a karaoke night birthday bash. While Lucy is alone one day in the hotel-gallery, a cold, blonde woman arrives looking for Nick, and declines to leave a message. Nick rescues her again, saying they’re off to a meeting about their hot new gallery. Browsing in a secondhand-book shop, Lucy sees Max, follows him to a café, and meets Amelia. The money to start the hotel came from his grandma’s inheritance. Seeking furniture and decorations for the gallery-hotel, they pound the streets, reclaiming pieces as they go. She sees first-hand how freeing it is for people to give up their baggage. Lucy shares photos with their stories on social media #BROKENHEARTGALLERY, then posts short videos of people parting with their memorabilia. Meeting and bonding with Marcos, Nick’s friend on the building project, they convince Nick to give her gallery space in exchange for work. Excited, she envisions a chance for New Yorkers to connect over shared loss and humanity. Nick shows up at Lucy’s, inviting her to see something added to the wall. Inspired, she writes a caption, and they jointly come up with the concept of Broken Heart Gallery. He encourages her to hang Max’s tie on an old nail. Renovating his dream boutique hotel for five years, he is out of money and needs help to keep the project going. Lucy and Nick end up at the Chloe hotel, an old YMCA. Nick sees her and steers her outside before she can cause a scene. Unable to sell her mementos, Lucy follows Max and Amelia into a restaurant. Finally, they urge her to clear out her cave of memorabilia from past relationships. For weeks, she wallows in her room, with her roommates’ support. The kind Nick takes her home while she describes the gallery fiasco. At the gallery opening, instead of Max asking her to move in, she is both dumped for his ex Amelia and fired.ĭrunk and despondent, Lucy climbs into Nick’s car, believing it’s her Lyft. Her friends and roommates, law student Amanda and model Nadine, hear her talking non-stop about him. Idolizing her boss, Eva Woolf, she readily provides info about her to her boyfriend and work colleague, Max. Lucy is a young assistant at the Woolf Gallery in NYC. The film was theatrically released in the United States on September 11, 2020, to generally positive reviews from critics. Burger King is a cautionary tale – just weeks after the fast-food brand’s UK chain was labelled ‘tone-deaf’ for its “women belong in the kitchen” #IWD2021 message, the brand in Chile capitalized on the Suez Canal blockage to advertise its Double Whopper, sending Egyptians on Twitter calling on others to #BoycottBurgerKing. Yet they are employed on the first day of the fourth month of every calendar year as an occasion to launch yet another marketing gimmick, but really, are they worth the risk? As consumers, on any other day, we would seldom brush aside being victim to a prank by a brand, but in the spirit of April Fools’ Day, we entertain the lie, sometimes at the cost of panic or annoyance, and sometimes at the cost of being entertained.īrands must not get starry-eyed launching such gimmicks under the guise of ‘bold marketing’. Pranks like this one are insensitive and cost brands their reputation and ultimately, revenue loss. I don't think the problem is so much the domain as, I'm guessing, the single IP address behind it. I want this to be as simple as possible for users to connect and change their files hence the use of a single IP and FTP for uploads. The FTP server will then copy the uploaded files from the share on the FTP server across a high speed LAN to the correct server. When an upload occurs it would then be put in a temp folder on the FTP server that is shared across a LAN with the other servers. This FTP server would then SSH into the correct server and pull a list of files and display it to the user in their FTP client. My main plan was to have a single IP for FTP that users can connect to. I've had other ideas such as install an ftp server on each server and get user details from the SQL server but then I believe I wouldn't be able to user a single domain for uploads.Īny comments and criticisms of my current idea welcome :) Would it be viable to do this? For example I could create a java server application that would get user details from a SQL database, upload the files to temporary storage on the FTP server and instantly transfer those files off to the correct server and then clean up the temp files. I was playing with the idea of building a single machine that would be hosted on that would then distribute those uploaded files to the correct server over a high speed lan. Each of the servers will be unique in a manner of speaking, running their own processes and users etc. So i'm looking into how to allow users to FTP into different servers just through one domain such as.
